On nukes

3 ways I resemble a nuke

3 ways I resemble a nuke

  • Nukes are costly, tough to maintain, and create a lot of trouble. But you’re better off having a few than not having any.
  • If you’re using your nuke, you have big problems or you’re crazy.
  • Nukes are best for making breakthroughs, not continuous sustained results.

Hokum aside, I actually think there’s truth to this analogy. maybe not a full scale nuke, but a tactical, economy sized nuke from IKEA.

I have a lot to offer organizations because I’m not a typical designer. But I think that the best use for me, similarly to a nuke, is to keep me in the freezer doing boring design shit that nobody cares about, while knowing that when you hit a wall, when you require perspective, when there’s a big complicated issue, there’s someone that is guaranteed to be able to come up with something.

It’s like insurance, except it’s fun to use.
