On imitation
"one should imagine sisyphus happy" is what a read on a girl's instagram description thing. I was thirsting around the instagrams and I clicked on a pretty face. I saw this calamity and I had to say something.

I feel like my life is actively being destroyed, mostly by social media. Imitation everywhere.
Here's another dumb bitch, who found out the next clever thing to say, and decided it's now part of her personality. I can't thing of a single thing more demeaning or dehumanizing than this now very common behavior. It's littirally: Monkey business.
She's never read the book. She's not into philosophy. She doesn't think Sisyphus is happy. She doesn't work hard, has no goals in life but consumption and pleasure. She just looks at this sentence as she looks at a purse, and she proceeds with the exact same mindless imitation that governs the rest of her life, like a monkey.
It doesn't escape me that all human behavior, including the writing of these very words, is governed by some level of mimicry. But it seems to me that it has always been the case that imitation is a vice, so we should all take great care in avoiding it, or at least hiding it. But the current human beings, espetially of the gen Z persuasion, have collectively decided that they are gonna do everything possible to follow trends, actively, loudly, and shamelessly. The shamelessness is what gets me.
It's such a communist way of being... "Hey! let's all be the same". Not organically, but because we're trying.
Unlike many other rants I do, this one is not about the morons of the world. It's against seemingly everyone, including many categories of people I admire.
A few days ago, I read a tweet that braught me an unreasonable amount of distress. "IC work is the new flex". IC means individual contributor. It's when you have no reports. You don't manage anyone. Yours truely is an individual contributor. It's been one of the hallmarks of my professional personality: I like working by myself. I don't like delegation, let alone managing a team. I hate it. As a manager, I would feel useless. There are many managers who still have their own work. I can't do that. I don't like telling people obvious things. I don't like having too many tabs open in my head. The ADHD physically destroys me. Therefor, I chose to be an individual contributor for as long as I work for other people. It's a careful analysis of my likes and dislikes, of my capabilities and my values, which resulted in me picking an unpopular position of low prestige that I chose to live by. My parents and friends and future collegues would be much more impressed if i told them that I managed a team of 16 people. It's a common measuring stick of one's career advancement. I opted out many years ago. I could have had this. I can have it now. But I say no thank you.
That's how a human being should function. I took a small pleasure in that, and this tweet took it away from me.
I can already see it. Every mindless silicone valley moron is gonna be, flexing that. They will find every angle to that state of being, expose it, and squeeze the life out of it. Then, there will be T-shirts and hats about that. I mean it. I can probably find some already. There will be an IC conf, a dumbass indian dude on youtube teaching you "Vere to staRt your IC journey".
I really don't aspire to do unpopular things. I don't find pleasure in finding niche things. It doesn't bother me when my thing becomes popular. It's the mindlessness that enrages me.
How the fuck does one wake up in the morning and say: "G, mate... I wonder what the others are doing so I can do exactly the same thing". It really defies my understanding. If you see someone did a thing, how is it possible to think: "I gotta do the exact same thing". It doesn't make any sense. "What? They went to Zanzibar for their honeymoon? Guess what babe? we too are going to Zanzibar for our honey moon". If that's you, I think you should be castrated with rusty scisors. Somehow, It's not as bad when women do it. I still have no respect for the female NPCs, but they don't enrage me as much. There's something unmanly about imitation.
One of these days, someone will redisover blogging. Writing your own thoughts with a keyboard and publishing them on your website... Imagine that... thinking of own thoughts.. I know.. crazy notion...
And on that very same day, the NPCs will pick it up because they've become so proficient and efficient at this. By noon that day, they would have already sucked the life out of it. Every mustached moron with a ciele hat and a matcha, every dumb pilates bitch (tautology?), every run club member, every indie hacker, every member of the imitation culture will publish a blog, a mind-numbingly boring blog written by AI with the instruction: "make me sound interesting to my respective cohort of sub-human inbeciles". Social media would ovrflow with this stink. That would be a great day to kill myself because it's currently the only thing left for us, those who enjoy the occasional dusting off of the noggin.
I know the following is bad, but I will say it anyway.
Instead of moaning, I should find way to make money off this. I should find ways to get them to part with their money. The bad part is that I'm starting to accrue a sentiment, in my heart of hearts, of utter disdain and disrepect for these people. many-a-time in this blog, I almost called them animals. I certainly don't think of them as humans like you and I. That's such a Nazi way of thinking and it scares me. I want to have love for everyone. But I'm starting to have hate towards this.
If I see one more 23 year old with a hairline mustache I swear to god I'mma slap it off their face...
