The thing that fucks with me most in life is lack of competence. I despise it. I’m a person with a fairly agreeable tempermant, some might even say passive. But when it comes to incompetence, I get confrontational and rude.
Nobody is supposed to know how to make french toast. Some people do know how to make it, but nobody is “supposed to”. You’re not supposed to know how to fix a carburettor. You’re not supposed to know how to give a lecture. But if you show up in my life, claiming to have this ability, you better fucking have a minimum.
This is why I get enraged when I see people expressing opinions that they have no business expressing, and doing a terrible job at it. “7 myths of strategy”. There’s not supposed to be any myths. You have proclaimed that there is, you identified a few that you think exisit and did a poor job of that, and then did a poor job of refuting them. What an utterly incompetent moron.
This is, of course, not an insolated incedent. This is a deleberate, cowardly straw manning. To straw man a case, as opposed to steel man, is to present it in its most unflattering aspects.
