On fancy titles

Why do my blogs titles start with the word “On”

Why do my blogs titles start with the word “On”

“On Status”, “On Settling”, “On This”, “On That”

Easy answer. It sounds fancy. I like it.

The end.

There’s no other reason, really. I just like how old books sounded like and I want to be more like that. It’s not to sound clever to others. It’s to sound nice to me.

But there is a benefit that i discovered later.

Forcing myself to title 100% of the posts in this format forces me to ask a very necessary question: What is this about?

In hokum, I wrote about my anger towards the user experience I received at Uniqlo in Warsaw. very many emotions. 745 words in, I said what I wanted to say. Some of it was funny, some insightful, some was making dull excuses for inexcusable behavior. Regardless, a question asks itself: What is this about?

I decided, after having written it, that it’s about the impact of design on the moral qualities of unsuspecting people. I called itL “On people design”, meaning the design of people.

I also wrote “On the design of kidney failure”. It’s about dumb bathroom gender signs. It’s just humor. I find it funny. It’s for me.
