# On rental agreements

🤔 What does one-year rental agreement with a 2-month notice period mean?

- It’s a running two month agreement limited to one year.

Life doesn’t sound as safe without all the nice little lies 😄

Building software trains my brain to pick up on these things. I can’t help it. You can't just deactivate it once you close Figma.

Likewise, an unlimited employment contract with a vague termination clause is, in practice, a limited contract. The only difference is that you can use it to get a loan from an unsuspecting banker.

Likewise, divorce undermines marriage. That's why society has all these seemingly dumb rules which are in reality not dumb at all. Marriage with the possibility of divorce is not a lifetime bond. It's a running short term bond. But if you pay a fortune for party and make a promise in front of everyone you know, then it makes the bond more likely to stick.

Therefore, I think that when companies sign an unlimited employment contract, they should hold an expensive ceremony and make a promise to all the other companies for "better or worse" in "health and sickness" and may I add "in the name of everything that is holy"

That's my solution to the overstaffing issue. It's either that or utter professional promiscuity which I personally advocate for.
